  • Ramesses II, born around 1303 BC, was the third Egyptian Pharaoh during the Nineteenth dynasty. He began his reign in 1279 BC close to the age of 20. His reign lasted for 66 years and two months, ending in 1213 BC. It was initially believed that he lived until was 99-years-old, but further research indicates that it is more likely that he died between 90-years-old and 91.
  • 8 Wives

    During his reign it is believed that Ramsses II had eight different wives that held the title of Great Royal Wife, some of which were at the same time. The most prominent of which was Nefertari. The others were Isetnofret, Bintanath, Meritamen, Nebettawy, Henutmire and Maathorneferure, Princess of Hatti. The last was a Hittite princess whose name is not known.
