Life and Career
Ralph Fiennes was born in England and raised during his teen years in Ireland. His father was a farmer, and his mother was a writer. He studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and went on to have a successful career in theater, winning a Tony Award for his 1988 performance of Hamlet.
His big break into film came when he starred in Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List (1993). Soon after, he starred in The English Patient (1996). Performances in both these films earned him two Oscar nominations. He continues to act in a range of genres and has more recently become well known to audiences for his portrayal of Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter film series.
