Reviews
Though Rainbow Brite is and was a beloved cartoon favorite of millions it was not received well by critics due to it’s origins as a Hallmark greeting card.
For example Janet Maslin of The New York Times wrote in her review,
She goes on to basically equate the series to a crap marketing scheme no better than a series length commercial.
The New York Times was not alone in their criticism of the childhood favorite of millions, Rainbow Brite, the Boston Globe’s Micheal Bowen had this to say about the colorful kids series,
"[it] is so incompetently crafted that it makes the Saturday-morning cartoons seem like Disney classics." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow_Brite_and_the_Star_Stealer
