Rain Man

Rain Man is an Academy Award winning 1988 drama starring Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman about a man (Cruise) who learns that his father's multi-million dollar estate is being left to an Autistic brother (Hoffman) that he never knew he had. After tracking down his brother, he embarks on a cross country road trip to Los Angeles in order to receive his share of the inheritance. The pair also make a brief foray to Las Vegas, where the pair try to win money counting cards. The film was a critical success and went on to win four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Actor (Hoffman).

The movie was inspired by the life of Kim Peek, who was born with an unusual medical condition resulting in an extraordinary memory. Peek died on December 19, 2009.http://www.sltrib.com/News/ci_14043625
