Ragdoll cats are a large, semi long haired breed with soft fur, blue eyes, and color patterns similar to Siamese. They are known for being playful, relaxed and very loving. The Ragdoll was developed during the early 1960's by the eccentric Riverside, CA, breeder Ann Baker. Baker claimed, among other things, that government agents were involved in the breeding of Ragdolls and that the breed has a unusually high tolerance for pain. Most Ragdoll enthusiasts today believe these to be myths, as well as a long-circulated rumor that the breed's dander is free of allergens.
