Career
Alston was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the 1998 NBA draft. He ranked 39th overall. During the 2007-2008 season, Alston started in all of the 74 games he participated in. He averaged 13.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 34.1 minutes per game. He shot 39.4% from the field, 35.1% from the three point area and 71.5% from the free throw line.NBA: Rafer AlstonAlston was issued a two-game suspension without pay stemming from a November 2008 on-court brawl between the Rockets and the Phoenix Suns.
Arrest
Alston was arrested and then released without bail in August of 2007. He was charged with stabbing a 41-year-old man. The man claims that Alston slashed him across the neck during an argument at a Manhattan club. Alston's attorney claims that witnesses say the alleged victim left the scene seemingly unharmed and did not bother to contact police in the area.ESPN: Alston charged with assault in New York stabbing(August 28, 2007)Alston was traded to the Magic from the Houston Rockets as part of a three-team trade on February 19, 2009.
