Racetrack Memory is a new type of data storage in development by IBM. Racetrack Memory combines the best features of Flash memory and conventional magnetic plate storage, with no moving parts like flash storage and the low cost of magnetic storage. At the heart of the new technology is a system by which data is stored more efficiently, allowing it to store approximately times more data than flash drives and read that data up to 100,000 times faster.
Fast Facts:
- Developer: IBM
- Expected to be released within 7 years
