R. Kelly

R. Kelly had more Top 40 hits in the 1990s than any other male artist, although his legal troubles involving child pornography have made news as much as his often ultra-sexual R&B music. He is also known for his "hip-hopera", "Trapped in the Closet", a series of songs describing a strange escapade of a man hiding in a closet after his lovers husband/boyfriend returns home. It features 22 chapters.

Private Investigator Charles Freeman filed suit against Kelly in late February of 2009 after claims that he was never paid his fee of $300,000 for services rendered during Kelly's 2008 porn trial, in which Kelly was found not guilty. US Weekly reported that R. Kelly's divorce from his wife of 11 years, Andrea Lee, was finalized on January 8, 2009. The couple's lawyers stated, "The parties have reached an amicable resolution concerning all issues related to their marriage, and will share joint custody of their three children. In February of 2002, a videotape allegedly featuring Kelly having sex with a girl as young as 13 was sent to police. Kelly was indicted four months later on multiple counts of child pornography.

After numerous delays, Kelly's porn trial began on May 9, 2008.
