Queen Victoria was the Queen of England from 1837 to 1901. Her nearly 64-year reign is the longest in British history. The period in which she ruled is often called the Victorian Era and is widely considered to be the time at which the British Empire reached the height of its international influence.
Victoria was the granddaughter of George III and the last British monarch of the House of Hanover. She arranged marriages for her nine children across Europe, earning her the nickname "the grandmother of Europe." She was succeeded by King Edward VII.
