Quebec City is the capital of Canada's largest and mainly French-speaking province of Quebec. It is the second largest city in the province next to Montreal. Quebec is located near the intersection of the St. Lawrence and St. Charles rivers in the St. Lawrence river valley, which provides the most fertile farming area in the province. Quebec is one of the snowiest cities in Canada, with an average yearly snowfall of 384 centimeters. Quebec summers are warm and humid, characterized by heavy rainfall. Although the spring and autumn seasons are relatively short, the fall brings impressive foliage colors. The city welcomes over six million tourists each year from all over the world, many of which visit during the winter to attend the yearly Quebec Winter Carnival.
