Quarterlife is an online series and social network created by Emmy Award-winning television producers Marshall Herskovitz and Edward Zwick. The show is about a group of six twenty-something artists coming of age. Lead character Dylan Krieger blogs about their lives on a video blog called "quarterlife." In 2008 it premiered on NBC as a drama, but was canceled after the pilot aired.
Online Life
The show began as a scripted internet series being released online in 36 parts at 8 minutes per episode. In November 2007 the show premiered on MySpace and the official Quarterlife site, receiving the third highest views in history for MySpace. Within five months there were over 9 million views for the series.
Television Life
Unfortunately the viewers online didn't translate to numbers on the network. NBC announced that they would air the pilot on a Tuesday night and then move to Sunday nights immediately after. Because the show only had 3.1 million viewers on its first airing, it was considered the worst in-season performance on NBC in over 15 years. The show was immediately canceled and NBC's sibling channel Bravo opted to air the rest of the season.
