  • Quake Live is basically a Web client-based copy of Quake 3 Arena. People can sign up on the Web site and play the multiplayer game for free. The Web site keeps track of players' rankings and matches people up against others of the same skill level.   • Weapons

    • Some of the weapons include:
    1. Railgun - A slow, but very powerful weapons
    2. Shotgun - Your basic shotgun with rounds that spray
    3. Rocket Launcher - Mostly used at the feet of an opponent for splash damage
    4. Grenade Launcher - Good for firing toward entrances opponents might be using
    5. Lightning Gun - A powerful gun that shoots a streaming bolt of lightning
    6. Plasma Gun - Weak, but has a quick fire rate
  • Game Modes

    • There are several game modes:
    1. Duel - A one-on-one timed deathmatch
    2. Free for All - A deathmatch with several players, whoever hits the frag limit or has the most frags when time runs out wins
    3. Team Deathmatch - Same as free for all, except players are split into two teams
    4. Capture the Flag - Two teams, each with a base and a flag that must be protected
    5. Clan Arena - Team fights where players are fully equipped and must wait until the next round when they're fragged
    6. Instagib - An unranked deathmatch where players only have the 1-hit-kill railgun
  • Features

    Quake Live has a lot of what Quake 3 Arena had years ago. The biggest difference is that Live only requires a small download and signing up online. There is no money required and forget about the hassles of setting up a huge LAN party, since you can easily be matched up online.

    Some of the features included in Quake Live are:

    1. Includes 40 maps
    2. Play against bots to determine your skill level
    3. Players are ranked and on leaderboards
    4. Has a beta open to the public
