Synopsis
Push: Based on the novel by Sapphire chronicles the life of a young girl named Claireece Precious Jones. Jones has endured a life of pain and hardship. In her past she was raped by her father, physically and psychologically abused by her mother. These events have led her to live a lonely life which has contributed to her overweight physique, illiteracy, economic hardship and poor self esteem. With the odds stacked heavily against her, she tries to maneuver her way around the rough streets of Harlem in the 1980s, diagnosed as HIV positive and raising two kids by herself.Variety.com: Push: Based on a novel by Sapphire (January 18, 2009) -
