Puppy Bowl

The Puppy Bowl is an annual special aired on Animal Planet on the same day as the Super Bowl. The Puppy Bowl VII will be broadcast on February 6, 2011. The two-hour program is a parody of the Super Bowl as the puppies play on a mat that looks like a football field. Cats and kittens perform a halftime show and fill the roll of cheerleaders and a parrot acts as the announcer for the event.http://animal.discovery.com/tv/puppy-bowl/history/

The first Puppy Bowl aired on February 6, 2005. The Bissell Kitty Half-Time Show was added in 2006 and the Tail-Gate Party was added in 2007. Puppy Bowl IV marked the first time the event was broadcast in HD; Pepper the Parrot began the tradition of singing a modified National Anthem during 2009's Puppy Bowl V. Puppy Bowl VII will feature videos submitted by viewers of their pets giving kisses. According to the "Puppy Bowl 2011 Kiss Cam Casting Call" announcement on the Animal Planet website, the videos were to be submitted by November 29, 2010 to be eligible. Animal Planet was asking for videos of dogs, cats and pet owners engaging in kissing scenes. The pets could be any age, size or breed. The chosen videos will be shown during the Puppy Bowl VII game. The starting lineup for the 2010 Puppy Bowl featured 20 "players" all hoping to win the title of MVP (most valuable puppy). A variety of breeds are represented in the lineup. All puppies playing in the Bowl are available for adoption. The starting lineup for Puppy Bowl VI was:
