Punjab

The Punjab is one of the twenty eight states which form modern day India.http://waterresources.rajasthan.gov.in/1history.htm<ref> In 1966, the previous Punjab was split into three states, the current Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. The state capital of Chandigarh, this capital is also shared with Haryana, which also uses the city as uts capital. Punjab borders Pakistan Punjab to the west and has borders to four other Indian states. These borders are with Jammu and Kashmir to the north, Himachal Pradesh to the northeast, Chandigarh to the east, Haryana to the south and southeast and Rajasthan to the southwest.

Punjab is the nineteenth largest state in India by total area (50,362 km²) and the fifteenth largest state in terms of overall population.
