• A Pug is a small dog with a round wrinkly face and medium-small square body. The breed originated in China and dates back as far as 1100 BC. Pugs were officially recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1885.

• Health Problems

  Pugs commonly suffer from knee problems, especially dislocation of knee bones. They may also experience encephalitis, or swelling of the brain, retinal atrophy and other eye problems or respiratory problems including snoring.

• Sports or Activities

  As part of the toy group, pugs do not generally engage in any sports or working roles, but can be shown competitively. Their fun and social temperament make them popular family pets. They behave well with children and other pets, but do require a lot of human contact.
