A Pug is a small dog with a round wrinkly face and medium-small square body. The breed originated in China and dates back as far as 1100 BC. Pugs were officially recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1885.

Pugs commonly suffer from knee problems, especially dislocation of knee bones. They may also experience encephalitis, or swelling of the brain, retinal atrophy and other eye problems or respiratory problems including snoring.
