Puer Aeternus is Latin for eternal child. In Roman mythology it referred to a child-god who remained eternally young. Later, puer aeternus came into use in psychology to describe a man who, although being an adult, has an emotional life that is still at the level of an adolescent. There is also a connection to a strong dependence on his mother.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puer_aeternus
Carl Jung developed the puer aeternus archetype, having two sides. The positive is hope for the future and potential for growth, while the negative is the refusal to grow up and deal with the challenges of life.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puer_aeternus
