Psychonauts

Psychonauts is an action-adventure platformer video game developed for the Xbox, PlayStation 2 and PC. It was later released for download on Steam.

Players take on the role of Raz, a young telepath who sneaks into Psychic Camp. However, the camp and the counselors are not what they seem. Young students are abducted from camp and their brains are taken out in the middle of the night. Raz must battle the dark forces in the outside world as well as those in his mind.

Players control Raz and can make use of his various telepathic skills as well as regular fighting skills to defeat enemies. There are three buttons dedicated to Raz's telepathic skills. These skills include clairvoyance, telekinesis, and levitation. Players must also collect various items like purple arrows and "figments" to improve Raz's abilities. The purple arrows can be used to purchase items in a show on the campus. Collecting 100 figments raises Raz's level.IGN: Psychonauts Review Much of the gameplay occurs within the minds of the professors (and even a lungfish). Each mind is tailored to the personality of the individual and each character has a "mental roadblock" that Raz can unlock. These roadblocks open up mini-stories that tie in to the overall story.IGN: Psychonauts Review Inside the mind, players must match up the keys to their "emotional baggage". The baggages are literally different types of bag that range of duffel bag to suitcase. When players are inside other people's mind, they must also deal with censors. The censors are little men in business suits that stamp out thoughts that do not belong. Much of the gameplay, however, is platforming where Raz must avoid pitfalls and use his psychic powers to progress through the level. To complete the level, players must defeat a boss.
