Players control Raz and can make use of his various telepathic skills as well as regular fighting skills to defeat enemies. There are three buttons dedicated to Raz's telepathic skills. These skills include clairvoyance, telekinesis, and levitation. Players must also collect various items like purple arrows and "figments" to improve Raz's abilities. The purple arrows can be used to purchase items in a show on the campus. Collecting 100 figments raises Raz's level.

Each mind is tailored to the personality of the individual and each character has a "mental roadblock" that Raz can unlock. These roadblocks open up mini-stories that tie in to the overall story.

When players are inside other people's mind, they must also deal with censors. The censors are little men in business suits that stamp out thoughts that do not belong. Much of the gameplay, however, is
platforming where Raz must avoid pitfalls and use his psychic powers to progress through the level. To complete the level, players must defeat a boss.
