    • 1960 film's budget: $800,000
    • Original's domestic gross: $30 million
    • 1998 version is a shot-for-shot remake
  • Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 classic Psycho is considered by many film critics to be the quintessential horror/suspense film. The original starred Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh and was remade in 1998 by director Gus Van Sant. The 1998 version starred Vince Vaughn and Anne Heche.
  • The Shower Scene

The Psycho "shower scene" in which Janet Leigh's character is stabbed to death is one of the silver screen's most memorable moments, and certainly one of its most chilling. Chocolate syrup was used to represent the blood swirling down the drain, and only three split-second shots (out of approximately 50 total) show the knife penetrating skin.
