A Psychiatric service dog or a PSD is a service dog trained to assist people who who have a psychiatric disability. These dogs are also called 'emotional support' animals. Unlike other service dogs, they are not necessarily trained to perform tasks, but rather to provide companionship and support to the person they are paired with.
