Gameplay
Prototype is an open world sandbox game where the player takes on various missions and earns evolution points, which can then be used to purchase new moves, techniques, and upgrades.
In addition to the main story missions, scattered throughout Manhattan are tons of collectibles, side missions, and consumable targets that add to the "Web of Intrigue", which further fleshes out the story.
Story
In Prototype, players take control of Alex Mercer, a former employee of the Gentek corporation who awakens in the morgue to find that he now has amazing powers that grant him incredible agility, strength, and the ability to consume other people and take on their appearance along with their memories.
Over the course of the game, Alex will learn what he really is, why Manhattan is being overrun by a mysterious virus, and why the military seems so intent on bringing him down.

General Tips

Disguising
- Knowing when to turn on and off your disguise is one of the most important aspects of Prototype's gameplay that you'll have to learn if you intend to survive very long against the armies of tanks and helicopters the military throws after you.
- Whenever you go into a situation where the military is one of your enemies, you should always turn on your disguise initially. Doing so will allow you to scope out the area and make it to your target without getting shot at.
- Eventually, you'll have to break disguise to use one of Alex's powers. Once you break disguise, quickly take care of business, and then run away to the rooftops.
- When you're out of sight of the military, an icon will appear at the bottom left corner of the screen that says "Change". When this icon appears, immediately press Left on the control pad to turn on your disguise again. Doing so will cause the military to drop the alert, and will allow you to sneak among their ranks again.
- Note that infected are not fooled by disguises, nor can you disguise yourself as an infected. If you consume an infected human, you'll regain health, but won't change your disguise. Use this to your advantage if you need health, but don't want to lose your military disguise.
Powers
- Alex has a very wide assortment of powers and it can sometimes be overwhelming when deciding which ones you want to upgrade.
- Throughout the walkthrough I try to make suggestions regarding what you should have at what time, but for the most part you're free to upgrade whatever fits your play style best.
- Here is a quick rundown of Alex's main powers and what they are useful for
- Claws: Claws are great for dealing with your standard military enemies and Hunters, but are fairly weak against tanks and helicopters. They're probably the least useful of Alex's abilities as the game progresses, but early on they help out a lot when dealing with Hunters up close.
- Hammerfist: Up until you get the Blade and the Blade Air Slice technique, the Hammerfist should be your main method for destroying tanks and other armored foes. Try to upgrade the Hammerfist Elbow Slam as soon as possible so you can quickly take out tanks and other hazards in one shot.
- Whipfist: The Whipfist is the ideal power when you need to take down helicopters with your bare hands. This power is also great for clearing away a whole group of standard enemies with its Street Sweeper technique, but it should not be used against tanks, Hunters, or Super Soldiers. Be sure to upgrade the Longshot Grab whenever it’s available so you can hijack helicopters from a distance.
- Musclemass: While this power may initially seem lame since all it does is increase your throwing and bare knuckle punching strength, it's actually one of the more useful powers in the game when it comes to taking down bosses. Use this power only for its increased throwing strength, not for the increase in punching damage.
- Blade: You get the blade very late in the game, but once you do obtain it, it becomes your bread and butter. It's easily the most effective in dealing with Hunters, and once you obtain the Blade Air Slice technique, it can take out almost any vehicle in one hit.
Gliding
- Gliding is hugely important not only because it helps you get around the city faster, but also because it lets you avoid taking the often times very dangerous streets.
- Once you obtain the Glide technique, you can perform it by jumping, holding RT, and then pressing A.
- You'll only be able to glide with momentum for a short period of time, but if you air dash by pressing RT, you can get a second glide and continue even farther.
- The best way to get around the city is by gliding into the wall of a building while holding A, let go of A once you hit the wall to jump high up, and then glide again towards the next building.
- Once you get the double air dash upgrade, you can pretty much glide through the whole city without ever touching the ground level.
Hijacking Vehicles
- Once you complete the mission Wheel of Chance, you'll be able to hijack tanks by running up to them and pressing B.
- Obviously, trying to hijack a vehicle out of the blue will trigger an alarm and you run the risk of getting blasted off of the tank before you can get in. Whenever possible, try to disguise yourself before attempting to hijack the tank. Doing so will allow you to avoid the "Mash the Y button" mini-game and will prevent an alert.
- Hijacking a helicopter in the air is only possible with the Whipfist's Longshot Grab upgrade, so don't even attempt to jump down into a helicopter and attempt to hijack it.
Mission 1 - Memory in Death
- The game begins with a little glimpse into the future. 18 days after our protagonist, Alex Mercer, awakens in the morgue to be exact. The city has been overrun with mutants and military forces, giving you plenty of enemies to test out your abilities on.
- When you gain control, your first objective will be to clear the immediate area of the Blackwatch forces.
- Use your X attacks and hold LT to lock on as you use your radar to locate all of the enemies you need to kill. Enemies of course show up as red dots on your mini-map.
- Once you complete your objective, start heading towards the next waypoint. Hold down RT to sprint and leap over any obstacles along the way.
- When you reach the checkpoint, you'll be interrupted by a cut-scene that will grant Alex the use of his claws. Use your claws to cut up this next group of soldiers.
- TIP: Hold down the Y button to charge the devastating Groundspike attack, which can take out multiple enemies in an area all at once.
- When you complete the objective, once again head towards the next waypoint to see another cut-scene.
- This time when the cut-scene ends you'll be granted your Hammerfist power. Use this upgrade to crush the four tanks.
- TIP: An easy way to eliminate tanks with the Hammerfists is to leap up high into the air by holding down A, and then holding down Y to execute an immensely satisfying elbow drop.
- After the tanks have been destroyed, once again run towards the next checkpoint.
- When the cut-scene ends you'll be granted one more of Alex's powers in the form of an Arm Blade. Put the blade to good use as you cut up all of the Hunters prowling around.
- TIP: If you see a Hunter on top of a building, hold down RT to sprint up the building to where the Hunter waits.
- Once that objective is complete you have one more objective. You need to follow the waypoint all the way to the end, then grab the marked enemy with the B button, and press Y to consume him.

Prototype Video Walkthrough - Mission 1 - Memory in Death: Part 2
Prototype Video Walkthrough - Mission 1 - Memory in Death: Part 3
Mission 2 - Unexpected Family
- The first thing you'll notice when you gain control of Alex once again is that you're a lot less badass than you were in the prologue. You haven't yet gotten your powers and are limited to basic punches, kicks, jumps, and sprints.
- With that in mind, start heading towards the checkpoint. A helicopter will appear and will start chasing after you. Ignore it and just keep following the straight path towards the next checkpoint.
- TIP: Remember that holding down a button will usually make its effect more profound. Hold down the A button to jump higher, hold down the X and Y buttons to hit harder, etc.
- Once you reach the checkpoint, a cut-scene will interrupt the action as a helicopter fires a missile that sends Alex flying.
- Alex will then pick up a cab and you'll get your first instruction on how to hurl objects at enemies. Lock on to the Helicopter with LT, then flick the Right Stick to target the enemies that jump down, then target the helicopter again and press B to throw the car at it.
- Your next objective will be to get to higher ground. Hold down RT to sprint and then run towards a wall to run up it.
- Follow the waypoints up to the tall building and you'll be attacked by more helicopters.
- Pick up the huge objects up here by pressing B and then hurl them at the two helicopters to bring them down.
- Another cut-scene will display Alex getting away and then lying low in an alley. When a Blackwatch soldier spots him, Alex grabs and consumes him, allowing Alex to take over his identity.
- When you regain control, you'll be able to do the same thing to the incoming Blackwatch commander. Press B to grab the commander, and then press Y to consume him.
- NOTE: By consuming key enemies, you will obtain their memories and can view them through a system called the "Web of Intrigue."
- Your next objective is to head over to your sister's apartment. Just follow the waypoint as you leap across buildings to reach the checkpoint.
- Once you spot the apartment, you'll have to reposition yourself to get a better view of the area. Head towards the next waypoint and try not to alert the guards along the way.
- Before you can enter the apartment, you'll have to disguise yourself. Press Left on the D-Pad to disguise yourself as the soldier you just consumed.
- Once disguised, jump down and head towards the apartment door to complete this mission.
Prototype Video Walkthrough - Mission 2 - Unexpected Family
Mission 3 - Past and Present
- Your first objective is to find your apartment so drop down and start heading towards the blue waypoint.
- Once you reach the waypoint a cut-scene will ensue and culminate with Alex's getting blown out of his room after an explosion.
- After regaining control, it's up to you to find the guy who is responsible for blowing up your apartment. Kill the enemies that are dropped from the helicopter and be on the lookout for the enemy that tries to call in a strike team.
- If an air strike is called in, focus on taking out the helicopters by throwing cars their way.
- Once the helicopters are down, follow the waypoint back to your apartment and then follow the helicopter as it heads to the extraction point in Central Park
- When you reach your destination, a cut-scene will highlight the tank that your target is hiding in and a couple of guards with missile launchers.
- TIP: If you can infiltrate the enemy's ranks by disguising yourself as a guard, you can actually radio an all clear message by pressing Y when prompted and lure your target out of the tank without having to blow it up.
- Quickly head up to where the missile launcher is and take out all of the guards overlooking the tank.
- Once the immediate area is clear, look down at the tank, lock on, and fire two missiles at it to blow it up.
- After destroying the tank, your target will get out and start running away on foot. Quickly catch up and consume him to trigger another Web of Intrigue memory.
- After the flashback ends, clean up the remaining enemies or simply run away to complete the mission.
Prototype Video Walkthrough - Mission 3 - Past and Present
Mission 4 - Behind the Glass
- To kick this mission off, head towards the yellow waypoint on your minimap, which will lead you over to Dana's safe house.
- TIP: You will now be able to spend your evolution points and upgrade a couple of your skills. It's up to you what skills you decide to get, but I'd personally recommend grabbing Shield Power, Airdash, and Overoll for sure as they'll be useful in this particular mission.
- NOTE: Side missions will also be available if you visit the green waypoints on the minimap. Complete these for some extra EP.
- Once you reach the safe-house, watch the various cut-scenes and then head towards the blue waypoint to reach the outskirts of the Gentek Facility.
- Before you can get into Gentek, you'll need a disguise. Thankfully the one you obtained at the end of the previous mission should be enough to get you in the perimeter. If you consumed some random civilian after that, then you'll have to consume one of the soldiers walking around.
- You need to be careful inside the base because they have viral detectors that will see through your disguise. In order to avoid them, head left from the entrance and leap over the various objects while heading towards the blue waypoint.
- Once you have a view of your target, quickly jump down, grab him, and consume him.
- As soon as you consume the commander, you'll be on alert again. Either evade the enemies and wait until the alert dies down or kill them all until there is no one left to be alerted. Either way, once everything calms down, follow the waypoint to the entrance of the facility.
- A cut-scene will play that will introduce you to the main villain of the game, Elizabeth Greene.
- When the cut-scene ends, you'll be back at the front yard of the Gentek Facility with tanks, soldiers, and Hunters all with their guns, turrets, and claws focused on you. This is not a fight you're going to win, so hightail it out of there and head towards the waypoint.
- Once you reach the waypoint you will crash down into the military warehouse. If you're low on health, consume an enemy and then quickly look to pick up a Missile Launcher. In a few seconds, a Hunter will come in through the window to raise some hell.
- Once the Hunter drops in, sprint away and then try to lock on to it. Once you're locked on and have some space between you, hit it with as many missiles as you can.
- When the Hunter is stunned, you can go up to it and consume it the same way you would a normal soldier.
- Consuming this particular Hunter will give Alex his Claw Power. Equip both the Claws and the Shield if you obtained it to get ready for the next part of this mission.
- Two more Hunters will eventually drop down. Now that you have your claws, you can put up a bit more of a hand to hand fight against them, but I'd still advise against just exchanging hits with them. Continue using Missile Launchers and throwable objects to bring down their health and then use the claws when they're close to being stunned.
- Killing one Hunter will cause three more to drop down so this fight is about to become pretty challenging. You won't be able to regain your health by consuming soldiers since the Hunters will likely knock you away before you get the chance. Consuming Hunters on the other hand will give you a safe huge health boost.
- Utilize your Overroll and Airdash maneuvers to keep on the move and be as elusive as you can.
- TIP: Remember that the Blackwatch soldiers are attacking the Hunters too and dealing fairly decent damage to them. If you're able to dance around and avoid getting hit when you're low on health, you might just find a stunned Hunter due to fire from the soldiers.
- After killing a couple more Hunters, five more will drop in through the ceiling. This time your goal isn't to kill the Hunters though. You need to use your claws to break the six fuel tanks along the walls of the warehouse.
- Remember to keep moving. Standing still and just hacking away at a single fuel tank is just asking to be torn apart by the Hunters. Take a few swipes at a tank, roll away, take a few swipes at another one, roll back, etc.
- Once all six fuel tanks are destroyed, the warehouse will explode and you'll have completed the mission.
Prototype Video Walkthrough - Mission 4 - Behind the Glass
Mission 5 - The Wheel of Chance
- Once again, head towards the yellow waypoint on your map until you arrive at Dana's safe-house.
- You'll need to purchase the Stealth Consume upgrade before you can take on this mission so go ahead and do that, along with purchasing any other upgrades that sound appealing to you, and press Y inside the yellow circle to begin the mission.
- Your first objective is to find Alex's old girlfriend, Karen Parker. Unfortunately her apartment is right in the middle of an infected part of the city, so you'll have to deal with some mutations along the way.
- Follow the waypoint and try to glide over all of the action to make it to Karen's front door without creating too much chaos.
- After the cuts-cene that reunites Karen with Alex you'll need to procure a military vehicle. Find the marked target nearby and consume him for another Web of Intrigue entry.
- Once you've absorbed the soldier, follow your next waypoint over to a military base. Be sure to turn on your disguise while on your way.
- With your disguise on, head to the courtyard of the base and locate the commander. Use your Stealth Consume by getting behind him and pressing B while holding RB. In order to perform this technique, you'll have to do it when no one else is looking. If that's a problem, try Stealth Consuming the onlookers first.
- Once you have your new identity, enter the base.
- Locate your next target and use Stealth Consume once again to gain the knowledge on how to drive armored vehicles.
- After you've consumed the driver, head outside the base and hijack the marked APC by pressing B.
- Try to avoid running over soldiers as you make your way towards the next waypoint.
- Once you make it to the waypoint, you'll be attacked by a couple of infected. Use LT to lock on, RT to fire the main turret, and RB to fire missiles. Eliminate all of the infected in the area and move on towards the next waypoint.
- Once you break through the walls closing off Karen's apartment, you'll have to destroy the hive by bombarding it with missiles and tank shells.
- Aim for the pulsating sacs along the side of the building and try to ignore the mutants that are clawing at your tank. If they manage to kill you before you bring down the Hive, it just means that you were too slow in destroying the Hive.
- Once the Hive has been destroyed, follow the waypoint to get to safety. Remember to avoid angering the Blackwatch forces. As far as they know, you're one of their own. The last thing you need is for a strike team to start bombarding your APC.
- Once you reach the checkpoint you'll complete the mission.
Prototype Video Walkthrough - Mission 5 - The Wheel of Chance: Part 1
Prototype Video Walkthrough - Mission 5 - The Wheel of Chance: Part 2
Mission 6 - A New Order
- Follow the yellow waypoint over to Karen's lab.
- Your objective for this mission is to collect virus samples from a couple of infected water towers, and from the genetic material of a Hive.
- The first order of business is to locate the infected water towers, so follow your waypoint along the rooftops until you find the first water tower.
- Once you have the water tower in your sight, you'll be briefed on the nature of these things. When you get close, they will begin to hatch, and when you back way they will once again become dormant. If they hatch, you won't be able to collect the Genetic Material, and a Hunter will be released.
- I'd recommend purchasing the Hammerfist Power upgrade at this point so that you can quickly destroy the Water Towers in just two basic attacks. Make sure to collect all of the yellow orbs to fill up the Genetic Material bar.
- While you're flying around from rooftop to rooftop in search of infected water towers, you'll also have to deal with hordes of infected try to stop you, and Blackwatch forces looking to shoot you down.
- If the Blackwatch helicopters are giving you too tough of a time, use the objects on the rooftops as projectiles to bring them down. Locking on to them and holding down the X button will also cause Alex to use a flying jump kick that will deal some pretty good damage to helicopters as well.
- Once you collect enough Genetic Material, follow the next waypoint towards a Hive.
- Rather than destroy the Hive, your job here is to protect it so that it continues spawning Genetic Material. The best way to do that is to hijack incoming tanks and then use their weaponry to take down the helicopters and other enemy tanks.
- Once the area is clear, hold B to jump out of the tank and run around to collect as much Genetic Material as you can before more tanks and helicopters show up.
- Repeat this process until you collect enough Genetic Material to complete the mission.
Prototype Video Walkthrough - Mission 6 - A New Order
Mission 7 - Open Conspiracy
- Your next destination is back to Dana's safe-house so follow the yellow waypoint on over to begin the mission.
- Once the cut-scenes finish, you'll start off overlooking the military base. Turn on your disguise and head into the base. Make sure not to get too close or spend too much time near the Viral Detector.
- Take a few steps inside the base and your target will be identified. You can either try to find an opportunity to Stealth Consume him, or simply consume him normally right in front of everyone.
- You'll learn through the memories of the guy you just consumed that the military is going to investigate the safe-house. Quickly get out of here and glide towards the red waypoint on your mini-map.
- There are flying Viral Detectors along with the patrol so forget about trying to take the stealthy approach here. Just drop down, hijack a tank, and blow up the rest of the patrol with their own weapon.
- Once you take care of the first patrol, hop out of the tank and start heading towards the next.
- Repeat this process of stealing the tanks and then blowing up the remaining units until you eliminate all of the patrols heading towards the safe-house.
- When the objective is completed, you'll have to destroy three more patrols en route to the safe house. This time the patrols are much more heavily armed though. You might want to purchase a couple of the throwing upgrades like Charged Throw and Sprinting Throw to take down helicopters a little bit easier.
- Head towards the first patrol straight ahead and throw cars at the helicopters to bring them down. Once the Helicopters are down, you can attempt to hijack the tank.
- The next patrol should be fairly close by so just drive over to it with the tank and destroy whatever you can with the ammo that you have left over.
- Keep it up until you destroy the final patrol to complete the mission.
Prototype Video Walkthrough - Mission 7 - Open Conspiracy
Mission 8 - In the Web
- Head over to Dana's safe-house and make sure that you have the first Sprint Speed upgrade before you try to take on the mission. Not because it's particularly useful for this mission, but because it's actually a requirement.
- TIP: The Whipfist and/or Musclemass powers might also be a worthwhile investment for this mission as you're going to have to be dealing with lots of helicopters.
- Your main objective for this mission is to destroy ten Viral Detectors placed upon various rooftops around the city. Sounds easier than it is, due to the fact that you'll almost always trigger an alert the moment you get near the detector, which will bring several helicopters over to your location.
- The best way that I found to do this mission is to equip your Hammerfist power and quickly destroy the detector while ignoring the fire you're taking. If there are no Missile Launcher wielding enemies, helicopters, or Hunters nearby, then go ahead and consume a couple of the left over enemies to regain some health.
- While flying to the next location, turn on your disguise so you can escape alert status and get the Helicopters off your tail. If this doesn't work and the enemy has called in a strike force, switch over to the Whipfist power, lock on to a helicopter, and use its charged Y attack to deal some heavy damage to helicopters. One fully charged attack and one weak one should bring down a helicopter.
- If you didn't grab the Whipfist power, the usual method of throwing objects and following it up with a flying kick (jump and hold X) works as well.
- Keep this up for all ten detectors to complete the mission.
- TIP: Remember that if you start to take too much damage, you can always retreat with your disguise and then consume civilians to regain your health.

Mission 9 - The Altered World
- Head back to Dana's Safehouse, and enter the yellow circle to begin the next mission.
- Spend some time upgrading your powers and abilities and then head towards the waypoint to reach the Hive where you need to lure out McMullen.
- Once you reach your destination, you'll have to consume a commander so that you can use his memories to locate McMullen. Jump down to where all of the action is and consume the guy with the target over his head.
- Once you've consumed the commander, you have what you came here for. Retreat out of the area and head towards the next waypoint.
- Your next objective after you reach your destination is to sabotage the Viral Detectors so that they don't go off whenever you're near. You can't destroy them, because if you do, McMullen will refuse to land.
- In order to hack a detector, turn on your disguise, walk up to one, and then press Y to initiate a button press mini-game.
- Press the buttons that appear on the screen quickly because if the timer runs out, the Detector will trigger an alert. If an alert occurs, you'll have to hideaway until everything dies down before you get to try again.
- After you sabotage all of the detectors, head towards the checkpoint to radio McMullen in. A cut-scene will play, but unfortunately not everything will go according to plan.
- Once the cut-scene ends, either kill everything in sight or evade your pursuers to complete the mission.
Prototype Video Walkthrough - Mission 9 - The Altered World
Mission 10 - Errand Boy
- After picking up the mission by going to Karen's Lab, you'll be tasked with collecting more genetic material from the inside of a Hive. Follow your the waypoint until you reach your destination.
- Once inside, start collecting all of the yellow orbs that you can to fill up the Genetic Material bar. There are no enemies here so rest easy.
- Eventually you'll be interrupted by a cut-scene and the first boss fight of the game.
- TIP: If you for some reason don't have it yet, now would be a very good time to purchase Whipfist.
BOSS - Specialist Cross
- Cross likes to alternate between using his stun baton for close range attacks and his gun for long range. Getting in close to try and get into a slugfest with him is definitely not the way to go here.
- Instead, what you want to do is lock on to Cross and simply run around while avoiding his gunshots. When he announces that he's reloading, equip Whipfist and charge your Y attack to do some heavy damage to him.
- Keep this up and he'll eventually momentarily retreat to allow you to fend for yourself against the recently hatched infected.
- If you have the Street Sweeper upgrade for the Whipfist, this part is very easy. You can sweep your arm around by pressing X, Y, which will take out an entire group of infected in one swing.
- Eventually Cross will join the fray once again and you'll have to deal with both him and the infected.
- Ignore the infected and just focus on running around to avoid Cross's shots. When you hear him announce his reloading again, charge up a Y attack with the Whipfist.
- Next Cross will call for some Blackwatch backup. Use your Sweeping attack to clear them out and continue focusing on Cross.
- Eventually Cross will fall and a cut-scene will play.
- During the cut-scene, Cross will inject Mercer with a serum that seals Mercer's abilities.
- Your final objective for the mission is to either destroy or evade the military while in this weakened state. I'd suggest grabbing a disguise and going with the latter.
Prototype Video Walkthrough - Mission 10 - Errand Boy
Mission 11 - Confessions
- I don't know why this counts as a mission, but it does for some reason. Just head to the yellow marker at Dana's Safehouse and watch the cutscene.
Prototype Video Walkthrough - Mission 11 - Confessions
Mission 12 - Under the Knife
- After heading to Dana and obtaining this mission, it's off to the morgue to visit Dr. Ragland. Follow the yellow point to reach your destination.
- Ragland will offer his help to you, but you must first find out the location of Patient Zero. In order to do that, you must first locate member of the Blackwatch Specter forces.
- Head towards the waypoint until you reach a blue circle on top of a building overlooking a Blackwatch controlled area guarded by a couple of tanks.
- Jump down and quickly hijack the tank with the marker over it to absorb the tank commander inside.
- Speed off in the tank and head towards the next waypoint while making sure to take care of any pursuers that are able to keep up with the tank (like helicopters.)
- Your waypoint will lead you to a huge fight between Blackwatch and the infected that unfortunately you must become a part of.
- TIP: This part can be extremely difficult with a banged up tank like you probably have, so don't be ashamed if you have to die so that you respawn at the nearby checkpoint with a fully restored tank.
- Since you don't have any of your powers, your best bet for destroying the various tanks is by hijacking them and then using them against the other tanks. Thankfully, once a tank blows up, you won't die and can just quickly sprint over to another one to hijack.
- Helicopters can also be taken care of while you're in a hijacked tank, but if things get too chaotic down on the ground level and you have to retreat, you can use the various air conditioning units on the rooftops as projectiles to bring the helicopters down.
- TIP: They're a little harder to find than air conditioning units, but if you can kill some enemies with Missile Launchers, you can also use those to bring down the helicopters.
- Once you've destroyed enough vehicles, you'll reach a checkpoint and will obtain a new mission objective: Consume Captain Lim.
- You'll find Lim riding around in one of the nearby tanks. Look for the marker over his head and then hijack his tank to complete the mission.
Prototype Video Walkthrough - Mission 12 - Under the Knife
Mission 13 - The Stolen Body
- Time to pay another visit to Dr. Ragland over at the morgue. Follow your yellow marker over to your destination to begin the mission.
- Once you regain control, you're going to need to hijack a tank. Obtain the disguise of a Blackwatch soldier and then go looking for a tank to steal.
- When you get a tank, follow the waypoint back to the morgue so you can pick up Ragland.
- With Ragland in tow, your next objective will be to head towards an abandoned military base so that Ragland can obtain some samples. Try not to gain the attention of any military forces on the way.
- Reaching the checkpoint will put both Alex and Ragland inside the facility, which of course is about to be attacked by hordes of infected.
- Your main goal here is simply to protect the wall that stands between the infected and Ragland for four minutes.
- The first two minutes or so of this mission is pretty easy and you can deal with most of them simply by throwing the various objects lying around.
- TIP: What you need to be careful of is hitting them when they're close to the wall due to the fact that Alex's attacks damage the wall as well. If they get close, throw them away or consume them instead of punching them.
- It starts to get much tougher when they start throwing Hunters into the mix. There are several Missile Launchers lying around for the very purpose of dealing with Hunters. Try to spot them early and use the Missile Launcher to get rid of them before they get a chance to get close to the wall.
- TIP: If a Hunter does get close to the wall, don't fire a missile at it. Instead, just try to get the Hunter's attention by using basic attacks. They're generally more interested in killing something that's trying to kill it than some guy on the other side of a wall.
- You'll probably cut it pretty close, but if you can manage to keep the Hunters off the wall, limit the amount of damage that you yourself do to it, and are able to keep the number of regular infected attacking the wall to a minimum, you should be able to make the four minutes.
- Once the four minutes are up, you'll have to actually kill everything that remains.
- From here on out, throw caution to the wind and use everything from Missile Launchers, to Assault Rifles, to whatever you can get your hands on in order to kill all the remaining infected.
- After the area is clear, Ragland will come out and you'll have to drive the tank to the next waypoint in order to bring him to safety.
- Along the way you'll have to deal with tentacles that emerge from the street. Just hang back and blast them with tank shells and your machine gun.
- TIP: It's especially important here that you not anger the military since you have to remain inside the slow moving tank which spells certain death in the face of the helicopters' missiles.
- The tentacles like to throw cars at you, so try to save a tank shell to blow the car away before it manages to hit you.
- Once you reach the morgue, you'll complete the mission.
Prototype Video Walkthrough - Mission 13 - The Stolen Body: Part 1
Prototype Video Walkthrough - Mission 13 - The Stolen Body: Part 2
Mission 14 - Biological Imperative
- Head to the front door of the morgue once again to pick up your next mission.
- Your first objective for this mission is to learn how to ride a helicopter. In order to do that, you'll need to consume a helicopter pilot. Thankfully, such a pilot is right in front of you at the military base.
- Jump on down and use Stealth Consume to absorb the enemy with the marker above his head.
- Once you consume the pilot, get in the helicopter and take off by holding A.
- The controls for the helicopter are as you'd expect. A makes you ascend, X makes you descend, Left Stick controls your movement, Right Stick controls the camera and lets you turn, RT fires your current weapon, and RB switches between your weapons.
- Follow the onscreen tutorial to familiarize yourself with the controls of the helicopters and then proceed to the next waypoint.
- Your next objective will be to destroy three viral detectors.
- Once the three detectors are destroyed, you'll need to head towards the infected part of town to find a suitable Hunter to inject.
- Follow the waypoint and you'll eventually come to a highly infected area with lots of water towers to inspect.
- Fly over the various water towers and pay attention to your signal strength meter. Once it starts to fill up and you hear the frequency of the beeping increase, you'll know that you're close to the correct water tower.
- When the signal strength meter fills up all the way, the water tower will be marked with a waypoint and you'll be able to scan it by locking on and holding Y
- Once the scan is complete, the water tower will burst and the Hunter will escape.
- Hop out of the helicopter and face off against the Hunter. Take it down by luring it from rooftop to rooftop and continuously throwing objects at it.
- Bring down its health enough and you'll get the chance to inject by grabbing it and pressing Y.
- After injection, the Hunter will run away. You need to chase after it for a while so you can let the antibodies build up before you consume him.
- Your glide skills here will be put to the test as you chase the Hunter all across Manhattan.
- Once it finally stops, you'll have to bring down its health once again so that you can finally consume it.
- When you do end up consuming it, you'll get all of your powers back plus the Armor and Blade powers. Mission complete!

Mission 15 - The Door in the Wall
- Head over to Dana's Safehouse for a pivotal mission in the storyline. Dana will be kidnapped by a huge Hunter and it’s up to you to chase after it.
- Like you did in the last mission, chase after the hunter by gliding through the streets and rooftops of Manhattan. It will change directions often, so don't get ahead of it.
- Once it stops running you'll have to fight against several Hunters along with the Blackwatch forces. Use your newly acquired Blade and Armor power ups to tear them up without too much fear of getting knocked around yourself.
- TIP: Don't forget that you can now hijack helicopters as well as tanks. Make use of them if you're having trouble dealing with the Hunters using just hand to hand combat.
- When you clear the area of enemies, the Hunter with Dana will take off once again and you must give chase.
- It will lead you to the top of a building in construction where both it and you will be blasted by a rain of missiles, giving it the cover it needs to escape. Mission complete.
Prototype Video Walkthrough - Mission 15 - The Door in the Wall
Mission 16 - First and Last Things
- Head over to Ragland's morgue to pick up the next mission.
- Ragland will educate you on Leader Hunters and tell you that if you can consume a Leader, you should be able to find out where Dana is being held.
- With that in mind, follow the waypoint to locate a Leader Hunter wreaking some havoc in the middle of a street.
- Jump down and use your Armor and Blade combo once again to cut up Leader Hunter as best as you can.
- Don't neglect using the military and cars to your advantage. Often times the Leader Hunter will forget about you and concentrate on the military. When this happens, start throwing cars at it to deal some extra damage.
- If you need some health, either run away and find some infected or civilians to consume, or just beat up one of the standard Hunters and consume them for a large health boost.
- TIP: Leader Hunters have a period where they will just stand and catch their breath for a while. Use this time to attack and retreat once they start swinging wildly.
- Once you damage the Leader enough to the point where you can consume him, try to do so and you'll find that you can't just yet.
- When the Leader runs away, you'll get a new waypoint to travel to. Once you reach it, you'll be ambushed by a group of about four Hunters all at once with more that will join in later. Turn on your Armor and Blade once again and go all out.
- Once you kill enough Hunters, the Leader will come down once again to fight you. Instead of fighting it now though, you need to lead it over to an abandoned military base.
- Start following the waypoint, but pay attention to the Leader Interest meter at the top right. When it's empty, you'll have to give the Leader Hunter a smack or two to get its attention on you again.
- Try not to get too far away from the Leader or else it will lose interest and the Military will likely kill it if you leave it alone for too long.
- When both you and the Leader Hunter arrive at the base, you'll go inside and fight it out one last time.
- The same tactics apply as the last time you fought it, only this time it should be a bit easier since it's a one on one fight.
- Once the leader falls, the mission will be complete.
Prototype Video Walkthrough - Mission 16 - First and Last Things
Mission 17 - The First Monster
- Follow the yellow waypoint and head over to Ragland's Morgue. He will tell you how to consume the Leader you have stashed back at the abandoned military base.
- Head back over to the base and consume the Leader Hunter. Don't worry; it should be pretty much ready to go as soon as you enter the base.
- By consuming the Leader Hunter, you'll gain a new ability called Infected Vision. This special sensory upgrade will let you identify Infected Carriers, which you must consume in order to find out Dana's location.
- Time to test out your new ability. Turn on Infected Vision and look for the infected carrier among the four soldiers that just entered the base. Consume him to raise the Hive Mind meter.
- You'll need to fill up the Hive Mind meter all the way before you can move on to the next objective, so head outside and start searching for Infected Carriers.
- Follow the waypoint over to a base to search for some more carriers. You'll likely find a few walking on the street, but the highest concentration can be found at the base.
- Once you fill the Hive Mind meter, you'll learn the location of the Leader Hunter that took Dana. Follow the waypoint over to a rooftop where the Leader Hunter will be waiting. Be sure to turn your armor on.
- You should be fairly used to fighting these guys by now, but be on the lookout for normal Hunters that periodically come up to join you. These small Hunters actually work as a blessing in disguise since you can easily kill them with your Blade and then consume them for a quick health boost.
- Once you consume the Leader Hunter you'll complete the mission.
Prototype Video Walkthrough - Mission 17 - The First Monster
Mission 18 - Making the Future
- Follow the yellow waypoint over to the mission start point to begin this escort mission.
- Your objective here is to protect the Thermobaric tank from the infected while it makes its way over to Elizabeth Greene's hive.
- The best way to do this is to turn on a disguise, hijack one of the tanks in the motorcade, and just follow along like you're one of the pack.
- TIP: Like the mission where you had to protect the wall, you need to be especially careful of hitting the tank with your own attacks. Use the Machine Gun instead of the main turret when attacking enemies that are right next to the tank.
- The good thing about this mission is that the tank already has plenty of protection from the military as is, so you really don't need to do much other than take care of the Hunters.
- The first hive along the way will go down without much resistance once the tank reaches it.
- At the second hive however, you must defeat all of the Hunters before the Tank will act.
- Dispose of them in whichever way works best for you, whether by helicopter, Blade, Missile Launchers, etc. All options are open to you here.
- A Leader Hunter will show up once you kill all of the standard hunters, but you should be fairly used to how to bring these guys down by now and shouldn't have too much of a problem.
- TIP: There are plenty of normal infected here for you to feast on should your health dip a little bit low. If you see the Hunters distracted by the military, take the time to improve your health.
- When the area is finally clear of Hunters, the Tank will blow apart the Hive and you'll be able to move on to the third hive.
- Once you reach the third Hive, a couple of Tentacles will burst out of the ground and kill the drivers of the Thermobaric Tank.
- Take things into your own hands by getting inside the Thermobaric Tank yourself and firing a round at the Hive to blow it up.
- Now you must make it over to the Core Hive while riding the Thermobaric Tank. The Tank has probably lost a lot of health, but thankfully it's also got a lot of firepower and can generally wipe out anything in its way in one shot.
- Clear a path over to the Core Hive and then blast it as soon as it comes into your sight to complete the mission.

Mission 19 - The Supreme Hunter
BOSS - Supreme Hunter
- Prepare to die a couple of times here because this is a very tough fight. The Supreme Hunter is fast, damaging even with Armor on, and is deadly from both short and long range.
- While I said that it's deadly from both short and long range, it's much less dangerous from long range, so your main strategy here should be to equip the Musclemass Power and throw the various rocks and debris at it while you're running away.
- Of course, in addition to Musclemass, you're going to want to make sure you have the other relevant throwing upgrades as well, like Musclemass Throw, Charged Throw, Sprinting Grab, Sprinting Throw, Long Range Throw, etc.
- The main reason why you want to use thrown objects against this boss, aside from the fact that it keeps you away from him, is because you have a chance of stunning him.
- When you manage to stun the Supreme Hunter, quickly dash in and grab him with B. Then you'll be able to mash the X button and deal some pretty huge damage before he throws you off his back.
- After dealing enough damage to the boss, he'll be joined by a horde of infected including tons of regular infected, Hunters, and Tentacles. Ignore them all unless they're being used for consumption purposes and focus on the Supreme Hunter.
- Damage him even more and the military will barge in. This will actually help you out since they will provide another object of attention for the rest of the Infected. Plus more consumption targets and Missile Launcher drops.
- One thing that you might be tempted to try is hijacking a tank. I'd advise against it, as the odds of you getting into the tank are slim unless you have a disguise, and even if you do get in the tank, it'll probably be destroyed before you can even spin the turret around.
- Stick with the Musclemass strategy and just keep moving around rapidly and throwing debris at the boss to eventually wear down its life and complete the mission.

Mission 20 - Men Like Gods
- Follow the yellow waypoint over to your contact's phone-booth. There you'll be given your next mission.
- For this mission you'll have to work together with the Blackwatch forces and actually rescue instead of kill some of their men.
- To start off, head towards the blue waypoint, which will put you on a roof overlooking a squad of Blackwatch soldiers guarding a helicopter.
- Turn on your soldier disguise and glide over to the roof with the helicopter.
- Stealth consume one of the wandering soldiers and then get in the chopper.
- Fly towards the blue waypoint and then carefully land inside the blue circle to pick up the troops.
- Now head towards the red marker on your mini-map to locate an Infected Hive that is currently under attack. Help out your "comrades" and bombard the Hive with your standard weapon until it goes down.
- TIP: Save your missile ammo for the Hydras that are going to show up later.
- Once the Hive goes down, clean up all of the marked targets on the ground level. The only real danger you face here is from the Hunters who might throw some cars at you so keep an eye out for it.
- After you clear the area, carefully land in the blue circle once again.
- This time Hydras will emerge from the ground and will try to throw whatever they can at you. Get up to a high enough altitude so you can move around laterally without bashing into a building and start unloading on the Hydras with your missiles.
- As long as you keep moving, you shouldn't get hit by any flying cars so constantly strafe around the Hydras while shooting.
- If the Hydras start hiding underground, slowly reduce your altitude until they come back out.
- When all of the Hydras are destroyed, land in the blue circle to pick up another group of soldiers.
- Your next objective is just a delivery job. You need to fly over to the two blue circles and land without getting destroyed by the various Hydras and Hunters in the area.
- The first landing zone is easy enough, but for the second one you might want to fly beyond it on the first run, and then turn around so you have more room to evade the incoming cars.
- Once you deliver the final group of soldiers, quickly fly away and head towards the final blue circle over by the Blackwatch base.
- After the cut-scene, you'll find yourself in the tough situation of being exposed at a Blackwatch base, with the added bonus of having a poisonous gas being released into the air.
- The first thing you should do is destroy the thing that's emitting the poisonous gas. It's located on one of the ramps at the west side of the room. If you have the Elbow Drop for the Hammerfist, this would be a great time to use it.
- Now that the air is a little cleaner, time to take care of the soldiers. Take this opportunity to consume as many soldiers as you can to bring your health back up to max.
- Once you eliminate the first wave of enemies, the second wave will come with a new type of enemy included, the Super Soldier.
- Super Soldiers are basically the equivalent of a Hunter on the human side. They're extra fast, extra strong, can throw objects at you, and can even see through your disguises.
- What makes Super Soldiers sort of tough to deal with is that they're the only enemy in the game that will actually block Alex's melee attacks.
- After blocking a couple of hits, Super Soldiers will usually try to grab you, which will prompt a button press mini-game that will determine whether you counter the throw or not.
- TIP: Countering a Super Soldier's throw is actually a good way to deal some damage to them, so it might be worth attacking while they're blocking just so they can initiate a throw for you to counter. Of course whether or not you decide to use this method depends on how good you are at countering.
- One more wave of enemies will follow, but it will be accompanied by four Super Soldiers. Use the regular enemies as food for your health and make use of the dropped Missile Launchers to bring down the Super Soldiers.
- Once outside you'll be given the familiar choice of evading or destroying the nearby military. I'd suggest the latter considering you're right in the middle of a military base, but either way will get the job done.

Prototype Video Walkthrough - Mission 20 - Men Like Gods: Part 2
Mission 21 - A Dream of Armageddon
- Head over to your contact's phone booth once again for your next mission.
- Once you have your mission, head over to the blue waypoint to have a look at what you're up against.
- Your objective in this mission is to destroy nine Bloodtox Blowers that are strewn across Manhattan. The majority of them will be on the street level with a couple being on top of tall buildings.
- Hit and run is the name of the game here. Locate a Blower while in disguise, lock on to it, switch over to Blade or Hammerfist, and then use either the Elbow Drop or the Air Slice to destroy it in one or two hits.
- Once the blower is destroyed, immediately retreat out of sight and switch back to your disguise when prompted. If a Helicopter is following you, make sure to destroy it before trying to change to your disguise.
- TIP: If you're able to hijack a helicopter, this mission can be made extremely easy by simply staying up at a high altitude, finding the blowers with your lock on, and then raining down two missiles on them. If you're high enough in the air and no other helicopters are around to see you, you should be able to take them out without even causing an alert.
- Keep this up for all nine Blowers and you'll eventually be done with this mission.
Prototype Video Walkthrough - Mission 21 - A Dream of Armageddon
Mission 22 - The World Set Free
- Visit your contacts phone booth once again to start up another escort mission.
- This time you'll be escorting a Supply Truck over to Time Square. As usual, don your Blackwatch disguise and jump down to consume the marked Facility Commander.
- TIP: It may be tough with the Bloodtox Blower pumping poison into the air, but try to get a Stealth Consume on the commander so you don't raise an alert.
- Once you're in disguise and not alerting the Military, head to the blue waypoint to start the motorcade.
- Hop into a tank and follow the Bloodtox Vehicle along its path.
- The main enemy that you need to watch out for while escorting is the Hydra. At various spots throughout the mission, Hydras will sprout out of the ground and start throwing cars at the vehicle you're trying to protect.
- Try your best to act as a shield for the vehicle while you fire away with both your machine gun and tank turret.
- TIP: Once you reach the checkpoint at the park, don't be afraid to die or fail, especially if the vehicle is low on health. When you respawn at the checkpoint you will have full life/ammo and the Bloodtox Vehicle will have a little more than it did when it actually reached the checkpoint.
- Once you reach Time Square you'll need to be extremely quick in bringing down the Hydras since a total of four will appear all in a line.
- Break through that final line of Hydras and you'll complete the mission.
Prototype Video Walkthrough - Mission 22 - The World Set Free
Mission 23 - Things to Come
- TIP: If you don't have it yet, you should be sure to get the Blade Air Slice attack for the Blade. It will make this mission much easier.
- Drop down and enter the yellow circle to start what's sure to be one of the toughest mission so far.
- Your only objective for this mission is to protect the Bloodtox Pumper from the onslaught of Hunters that come to attack it.
- The problem is that it's very hard to keep the attention of multiple Hunters when their primary target is the Pumper.
- That's where the Blade Air Slice technique comes in handy. Whenever the Hunters get close to the Pumper, jump into the air and fully charge the attack by holding Y. You'll crash down and hopefully take out both of them at the same time.
- TIP: Unlike previous protecting missions, the Pumper is not damaged by your own attacks.
- The good news about this mission is that the Blackwatch forces will generally leave you alone until the Hunters are gone and they get reinforcements.
- At around the third wave of Hunters, they'll start adding in Leader Hunters to the mix, which will make things much harder for you.
- Try to get the attention of the Leader, but focus on killing the standard Hunters first. You don't want the Leader attacking the Pumper, but you definitely don't want to focus on it first and let four standard Hunters attack the Pumper while you try to bring the Leader down.
- TIP: Like the previous mission, don't be afraid to let yourself die if you reach a checkpoint and the Pumper doesn't have that much health. It may be wiser just to restore the checkpoint and try again with some more life.
- The final wave will consist not only of Hunters and Leader Hunters, but of Hydras as well.
- Focus on clearing all of the Hunters first and then switch to Musclemass to deal with the Hydras by throwing cars and trucks at them.
- TIP: You can actually park yourself right in front of the Pumper, wait for the Hydras to throw something at you, then grab whatever it is out of the air and throw it right back at them. You'll even gain an achievement for it.
- It'll be tough, but persevere and you'll eventually complete the mission.
Mission 24 - Defeat Elizabeth Greene
BOSS - Elizabeth Greene
- If you though the last mission was tough, you're in for quite a challenge on this boss.
- Greene's monster form has a defense that is seemingly impenetrable. If you get close, she'll swat you away with her tentacles and then you'll be blasted by her green energy balls.
- In addition to the energy balls, you'll also have to worry about the constant barrage of rocks that she spits at you. Needless to say, standing still is never an option against this boss.
- The big attack that you need to be extra careful of is when everything slows down and a light starts to rise up from the base of the boss. When this happens, stop what you're doing and immediately run away from the impeding ring of death.
- So what do we do? Well, there are several ways to deal damage to Greene and I'll list all of the ones that I tried and let you find the one that works best.
- METHOD 1: The method that I prefer involves equipping the Whipfist, getting into about mid range to the boss, locking on to the lower middle portion and then charging the Y attack.
- Of course you should be running around like a nutcase while attacking and it might even help to have the shield equipped. Armor makes you too slow and doesn't let you glide.
- You actually don't need to charge the attack for very long, and you probably won't even be able to since you'll likely be hit with either the rocks or the energy balls.
- METHOD 2: Break out the trusty old Blade and start spamming the Blade Air Slice. Lock on to the boss, run up a nearby wall, jump off, and press Y to come crashing down.
- Like the previous method, you won't be able to charge the attack for very long due to the fact that the boss will probably hit you with some sort of projectile before you can get the attack off.
- The problem I have with this method is that the green energy balls tend to hit you on the way down and knock you out of the move, which can be a bit frustrating. Still I've seen lots of people that prefer this method, so give it a shot.
- METHOD 3: The third method involves putting the military to use to your advantage. Disguise yourself as a soldier so that you can quickly hijack the tanks and helicopters for some extra firepower.
- The vehicles won't last very long, but they will frequently respawn and allow you another chance to deal some damage.
- METHOD 4: If you've got the necessary Musclemass upgrades, equip it and hit the rooftops to find plenty of objects to throw at the boss.
- Once the potential projectiles on the roofs run dry, you could always use the more risky taxis, trucks, and fallen helicopters on the street level.
- Regardless of the method you choose, when you destroy the three parts of Greene that you can lock on to, she will come down and expose her weak spot. Use your most powerful weapon and deal as much damage as possible in the short period of time that she is vulnerable.
- After a bit, she will retreat back into the ground and leave behind lots of health orbs that you can refill your life with.
- TIP: Whenever you start running low on health, run to one of the streets on the side and start consuming infected or beating up on Hunters so you can consume them. Greene can't hit you unless you're in her line of sight so you're safe from everything but the military and Hunters.
- Repeat whatever process you decide to use until Greene's main life bar runs out. The good news is that her attacks never change whenever she re-emerges.
Prototype Video Walkthrough - Mission 24 - Defeat Elizabeth Greene - Part 1
Mission 25 - Shock and Awe
- Once you reach the yellow waypoint to start the mission and watch the cut-scene, your first objective will be to scope out the Bloodtox Facility.
- Follow the blue waypoint over to your destination and you'll get to see your objective for this mission.
- Your only goal for this mission is to destroy the eight filtration units scattered around the Bloodtox Facility. Of course, this isn't going to be very easy considering that each one is heavily guarded by the military.
- As usual with these types of missions, the name of the game here is hit and run. Use a disguise to get close to the filtration unit, then jump up high into the air and crash down with a Blade Air Slice.
- TIP: If you don't have the Blade Air Slice technique or you are having trouble surviving, you might also want to try disguising yourself and then stealing a tank to wreak havoc on the inside of the facility.
- Be patient and don't try to bite off more than you can chew. If you start taking too much damage and your health runs low, immediately retreat, disguise yourself, and consume a couple of enemies to regain your health. Once prepared, get a disguise again and head back inside.
- TIP: In addition to the filtration units, you should also aim to take out the Bloodtox Pumpers so you have an easier time retreating and sneaking around while in disguise.
- Once you take out all of the filtration units, a cut-scene will play and the mission will be complete.
Mission 26 - The Last Man
- Head towards the contact's phone booth to kick off this next mission.
- You have a pretty simple task at hand here. Head towards the blue waypoint and start going to town on the Helicopters before they get the chance to take off.
- Once again, the Air Blade Slice will be your bread and butter here while the helicopters are still on the ground. You can also take out a couple of the nearby bazooka infantries and use their weapon to take the helicopters out.
- Once you get all of the grounded helicopters, chase after the ones already in the air and use your Whipfist to latch on to and hijack the helicopters. You'll have to buy the long-shot grab upgrade if you haven't already.
- Once you've got control of a helicopter, it should be an easy task to track down the remaining helicopters by following the red skulls on your mini-map.
- Once you bring down the first group of helicopters, a new location will show up on your mini-map marked by a blue waypoint. Head towards it and shoot down the next group of helicopters.
- Your helicopter will likely get shot down as you try to bring down your targets. When it happens, glide towards another helicopter and once again use the long-shot grab to hijack another one.
- Keep up this process of hijacking helicopters, bringing down the ones marked by red skulls, then following the blue waypoint to the next location. Destroying the final transport will trigger a cut-scene and complete the mission.
Mission 27 - Two Tickets
- Head on over to the lookout point by following the yellow waypoint to start the penultimate mission for this game.
- The first part of this mission is pretty easy. Head over to the waypoint, turn on a soldier disguise, then hijack a tank.
- Turn the tank around and start blasting away at the base, which is marked by the red skull on your mini-map.
- There shouldn't be anything in the area that will be able to stop you, so just focus all of your fire on the building until it falls.
- Once the base goes down, Taggart will try to escape by his own personal tank.
- You can follow him in your own tank, but it'll probably get destroyed along the way so you might as well just jump out and follow him on foot.
- Once the tank comes to a stop, you'll have to eliminate all of the forces marked with a red skull that are guarding it.
- Use your trusty Blade Air Slice to bring down the enemy tanks but make sure that you don't touch the one that Taggart is riding in.
- After you destroy the tanks protecting him, Taggart will be on the move again. Follow him on foot and try to evade your own pursuers by using a disguise.
- Taggart will once again stop once he reaches the protection of three more tanks. Take them out using the same method you did previously and then follow him again.
- He will make one more stop but this time he surrounds himself by a total of five tanks.
- Destroy the five tanks and Taggart will make a desperate break for the bridge. Chase after him on foot and quickly hijack his tank to consume him and complete the mission.
Mission 28 - One Thousand Suns
BOSS - Supreme Hunter v.2
- It's time for the final boss fight, and once again you're up against the Supreme Hunter.
- The only thing that is really different in this fight is that the Supreme Hunter will use devastators this time. When you see him standing still like he's powering up, immediately get far away from him to avoid his Tendril Barrage Devastator. If he hits you, you might as well restart now.
- The strategy should be the same as last time: Equip the Musclemass power, sprint around, grab a heavy looking object and then hurl it at him.
- TIP: Use the grounded and destroyed helicopters to deal the most damage to him.
- Another effective method of dealing some large damage to him that is slightly more risky, is using the Blade Air Slice technique that has been your best friend in this last part of the game. Simply equip the blade, jump up high above when the Hunter is distracted by the Military, and charge up Y.
- Once you bring him down to about a fourth of his life, things will start to get a bit intense. It turns out that the bomb threatening Manhattan is set to go off in 1 minute and 45 seconds, and unless you want to be vaporized along with the city, you're going to need to finish up your work here before the timer runs out.
- You're going to have to work fast once the timer starts ticking. 1:45 is definitely enough time to finish him off, but you'll have to pick up the pace considerably.
- When you finally put the Supreme Hunter down for the last time, you will complete the mission and the game! Congratulations on beating Prototype. Now you can try the New Game+ mode to start over with all of your abilities intact, or try to take on the hard difficulty setting.
- You're also free to roam the city and complete any side missions that you might have skipped.
