Project Origin

Project Origin is a game being developed by Monolith Productions and released by Warner Bros Interactive, a subsidiary of American media conglomerate Warner Bros. The game will be released on the the Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PS3, and Windows PC. It currently has a scheduled release date in North America somewhere around Fall of 2008. A rating has yet to be determined though the consensus is that it will be rated "M" for Mature. Project Origin is a sequel to the first-person shooter game F.E.A.R.. It is not being titled F.E.A.R. 2 because Vivendi, a subsidiary of Universal Pictures, owns the name and copyright. The game however will share the F.E.A.R. universe setting. To settle the naming controversy, a contest was held by Monolith Productions. The three final contenders were Dead Echo, Project Origin and Dark Signal.

Game Setting

Like F.E.A.R., Project Origin is set in the future. A supernatural occurrence has occurred, threatening a major American city. The game was shown at the Electronic and Entertainment Expo in 2007 that displayed a more open play environment. The game will remain in the first person perspective. The game controls at this point are likely to remain the same with possible added functionality that has yet to be disclosed to the public.

Game Character

This time around you will not be playing the same "Point Man" title character of Michael Becket. It has been hinted that the you will be playing a surgically enhanced version of the main character which would fall into line with the copyright issue. Overall the game looks fantastic and like the original F.E.A.R., it is definitely not for the squeamish.
