  • The Prioritizing Resources and Organization for Intellectual Property Act, or PRO-IP Act, was signed into law by George W. Bush on October 13, 2008. The PRO-IP Act law creates a government position, referred to as a "copyright czar" or "intellectual property czar" which will report directly to the president. The new law also creates tougher regulations against piracy and counterfeiting.
