Pro-Choice refers to the political view that women have a right to complete control over their fertility, conception, and pregnancy. This includes protection of reproductive rights, including access to birth control and abortion and protection from forced abortions. Pro-Choice advocates see abortion as an important issue in the broader debate over individual liberties, a woman's right to bodily autonomy, and reproductive rights.
Roe v. Wade
Pro-choice supporters endorse with Roe v. Wade, a Supreme Court decision in 1973 which legalized abortion in all states. The Supreme Court's decision in the case said laws against abortion in The United States violated a constitutional right to privacy under the Fourteenth Amendment. Roe v. Wade overturned state and federal laws that banned abortion and would challenge any laws made afterward that banned or restricted abortion.BBC: Roe v. Wade...(December 10, 2004)
Pro-Life
Pro-Life is a political or ethical opposition to abortion, euthanasia, capital punishment, and in some cases stem cell research and cloning. The Pro-Life position towards abortion is motivated by a belief that fetuses and embryos are human beings entitled to full legal rights. Pro-life supporters differ on what types of actions they oppose and to which extent.
