Web sites use small files of information called "cookies" to store your user ID and preferences. Some sites use these for more nefarious purposes, tracking where you've been, in order to learn more about you. Clearing the cookies for those sites will erase your electronic trail. However, it will also erase whatever log-in you have stored on your computer, so make sure you remember your user names and passwords!
