• A printer is a device used to create a hard copy of an electronic document. Printers are most commonly connected to a computer, although some are free-standing and allow for a connection to a camera or memory card. Printers are available that combine features, including printing, scanning, fax and copy features. Printers can be connnected to a PC by cable or wireless.

    1. 1938: Chester Carlson developed electrophography, a dry printing process that more recently became known as Laser Printing.
    2. 1953: Remington-Rand developed the first high-speed printer.
    3. 1971: Xerox developed the first modern-day laser printer called EARS.
