Observing Christmas in Public Schools
While many teachers are hesitant to incorporate Christmas themes into their teaching schedule, the rules allowing the use of Christmas-related symbols in the classroom are much more relaxed than one might think. For example, students are permitted to sing Christmas carols and teachers may use the Bible as a reference as long as the experiences are designed to broaden cultural, historical and religious awareness. Nativity scenes, Christmas trees, Santa Claus and other secular, holiday symbols may be used in the teaching process.Minnesota Family Council: Schools are Not Christmas Free Zones
