Plot Synopsis
Mrs. Bennet, whose five grown daughters are all unmarried, conspires to match her oldest with a wealthy new gentleman neighbor, Mr. Bingley. The new neighbor's friend, Mr. Darcy, scorns the Bennet daughters for being too far below Mr. Bingley's social station. Darcy then falls in love with Elizabeth Bennet, but is spurned in turn. The book follows Elizabeth and Darcy as they confront obstacles to their love, not the least of which is their own pride and prejudice. -
