Criticism
Some historians and politicians have criticized the Presidents Day holiday for its vagueness and commercialism. According to this argument, combining the birthdays of Washington and Lincoln under the ambiguous heading "Presidents Day" has not only prevented a proper celebration of either, but also given other presidents, however mediocre, the same billing. By this logic, the holiday has thus lost its meaning, becoming fertile ground for the commercialism that now marks it.Pittsburgh Tribune: Q & A for President's Day
