Thomas Beatie, the man who claims to be pregnant and is going to bear a child, appeared on the April 3, 2008, episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show. Beatie showed Oprah his ultrasound to prove that he was truly pregnant.

History
In an April 8, 2008 article published by The Advocate, Beatie told his story. He was born Tracy LaGondino, and had been a gay and lesbian activist in Hawaii. After falling in love with his current wife Nancy, Beatie underwent sex reassignment surgery, which included a breast reduction and testosterone treatments. Beatie, however, kept his female reproductive organs with the hopes of one day having a child.The couple obtained sperm from a sperm bank, and was expecting a baby girl around July, 2008. Beatie says, he made the decision to become pregnant because of his wife's infertility. Nancy previously had a hysterectomy due to endometriosis, leaving her unable to conceive.
