Powers Boothe is both a film actor and an Emmy award winning TV actor. Boothe started his career acting in Shakespeare plays and went on to act in popular dramas such as 24 and Deadwood, as well action films such as Sin City.
Powers Boothe Bio
Boothe was born in Synder, Texas in 1948 and in 1972 received his Master of Fine Arts degree from Southern Methodist University. Boothe's first work as an actor was in Shakespeare plays, joining the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's drama company. Some of Boothe's notable performances during this time include Henry IV and Richard III, and later he made his Broadway debut in the play Lone Star. Boothe first came under the national spotlight in 1980 with his portrayal of the notorious cult leader Jim Jones in the TV production Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones, for which he won an Emmy. Since then, Boothe has starred in numerous dramas and action films, such as Red Dawn (1984), Tombstone (1993), Nixon (1995), and Sin City (2005).
