Postpartum thyroiditis, or PPT is a fairly common condition that develops after childbirth. For reasons unknown, the thyroid gland malfunctions, prompting phases of hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. Treatment for PPT varies, but may include beta blockers or thyroid replacement hormones.
