Portable DVD Player

Portable DVD players, or PDP's, commonly feature LCD screens from 7 to 12 inches in size for optimum DVD viewing on the go. Most portable DVD players can also play music from audio CDs. PDPs can be folded flat and may be able to rotate on a swivel. Some also have docks for iPods, USB, and SD cards.

Users have complained about the quality of the picture on portable DVD players due to low resolution. High end players have a resolution of 88x480 compared to the standard 480x234 resolution. Resolution will likely improve with next generation models that will support Blu-Ray.

Things to Look For

  1. Screen size and portability
  2. Headphone sound
  3. Music CD, CD-R playability
  4. Battery life
  5. Connectivity
  6. Warranty
