Ponies are small horses and come in a variety of breeds. Ponies usually stand no taller then than 14 and one half hands, (the equivalent to four feet eight inches) at the withers. Ponies usually have thick manes, tails and coats, as well as proportionally short legs, wide barreled chest, and short heads with broad foreheads.
