Pamela Jeffs, one of the teenage girls taken from the Yearning for Zion ranch during the raid on the polygamist sect on April 4, 2008, has given birth to a baby boy. The mother and child will remain in state custody in Texas until a decision about their fate is reached. The decision should come sometime before June 5, 2008.
Rod Parker, a spokesman for the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, insists Jeffs is 18 years old but Texas officials have her on the list of minors taken into custody.
Texas officials claim Jeffs is one of 53 girls aged 14 to 17 who are in state custody. Of the 53 teen girls, 31 have either given birth, or are pregnant.
