- Geodude
- Machop
- Ponyta
- Gligar
- Fishing/Surfing Pokemon Encountered:

- National Dex Pokemon Encountered:

- NOTE: You need the Bike to access the Cycling Road - if you don't have it, refer to Part 2 of this walkthrough for instructions to obtain it.
- All of the Pokemon listed on this Route are below the Cycling Road - once you reach the bottom, you'll need Cut to get to them.
- If you've seen at least 30 Pokemon for your Pokedex, Dawn will give you the EXP Share, which you can use to share EXP with a Pokemon in your party that doesn't participate in the fight, so long as it is conscious. There are a few trainers on Route 206, but none of them should give you any trouble.
- When you get to the bottom and exit the building, Cut the tree on the right and enter the bottom part of the Cycling Road - catch a Bronzor if you get the chance, as well. Enter the Wayward Cave if you want, but there's not much to do until you get Flash.
- When you finish up, head to Route 207.
Route 207

- Zubat
- Geodude
- Machop
- Ponyta
- Fishing/Surfing Pokemon Encountered:
- None
- National Dex Pokemon Encountered:
- Phanpy - Swarm
- Stantler - Radar
- You can head down to reach Oreburgh City by using the ramp, but you need the Bike in its high speed gear to head back up. There are several trainers in well-hidden locations on the route that you can fight by heading near the slope and on the right path, but that path doesn't lead anywhere you have to go.
- When you reach the entrance to Mt. Coronet, Dawn will arrive to play a short guessing game with you. You'll get the VS Seeker and the Dowsing Machine - VS Seeker lets you find trainers that want a rematch, while the Dowsing Machine will find items on the Poketch screen.
- When you're prepared, head down the right path and enter Mt. Coronet - you'll need a Pokemon that has Rock Smash to get very far.
Mt. Coronet
- This trip through Mt. Coronet will be short - there's only one path you can take, so follow it. Catch a Meditite if you can, and a Chingling and Cleffa if you see either. Cleffa evolves via friendship to a Clefairy, then again by using the rare Moon Stone to Clefable, which is a decent Pokemon to have handy.
- When you head up the stairs, you'll see the blue-haired man again. After a short scene, follow the route through the cave - you'll run into a few destructible rocks, so use Rock Smash to get past them. When you exit the cave, you'll be on Route 208.
Route 208

- Budew
- Roselia
- Zubat
- Ralts
- Fishing/Surfing Pokemon Encountered:
- Psyduck - Surf
- Golduck - Surf
- Goldeen - Good Rod

- National Dex Pokemon Encountered:
- Zangoose - Ruby
- Seviper - Sapphire
- Smeargle - Radar
- Dunsparce - Swarm
- You'll be in an area with several trainers, many of which you can't reach until you have Surf and Rock Climb. When you leave the mountain area, you'll be in a grassy landscape with more trainers, a house, and the entrance to Hearthome City.
- Talk to the old man in the house to get a berry(he gives out a random berry each day), then head to Hearthome City.
Hearthome City
- Head to the Pokemon Contest area in the north, where you'll see your mother and a judge - you'll obtain the Tuxedo to wear to contests. Talk to Fatina and she'll return to the Gym.
- Now talk to the old man in the house to the far right of the Pokemart to obtain the Poffin Case. You can now make Poffins by heading to the Poffin House to the left of the Pokemart.
- You can also collect an Eevee while you're here. Head to the house near the PC and talk to Bebe - answer "yes", and she'll give you a level 20 Eevee. Eevee has two new forms, Glaceon and Leafeon, that you might want to consider trying for. At this point, however, the only forms you can get for it are Umbreon, Espeon, and Leafeon if you go back to Eterna Forest and level it near the rock with four empty patches around it.
- Check out the Pokemart and restock your inventory if you need to.
Hearthome Pokemart
- Poke Ball: 200
- Potion: 300
- Super Potion: 700
- Antidote: 100
- Paralyze Heal: 200
- Awakening: 250
- Burn Heal: 250
- Ice Heal: 250
- Escape Rope: 550
- Repel: 350
- Heal Ball: 300
- Net Ball: 1000
- Nest Ball: 1000
- Heart Mail: 50
- When you're ready, head to Hearthome Gym.
Hearthome Gym
- Hearthome Gym is a bit of a pain to navigate through - the rooms are dark, and rival trainers carry flashlights. If you get caught, you have to battle them; you might want to get caught on purpose just to get the EXP, though.
- In the room is a tile that matches the symbol over the door in the back of the room that you need to take - take a door with a different symbol than the tile, and you'll be transported back to the beginning of the Gym. If you try to leave a room via the door you entered it through, you'll be transported back to the beginning of the Gym. The location and symbol changes every time you enter, so be forewarned.
- In the second room, the symbol will only appear if you shine your light on the tile, which is also needed for the red tiles near the door. When you head through the right door, you'll be in the same room as Fatina, the Gym leader. Talk to her to begin the battle.
BOSS FIGHT: Fatina
- Fatina uses a level 24 Duskull and Haunter, and a level 26 Mismagius - these are Ghost types, with the exception of Haunter, who is a Ghost/Poison dual type.
- Duskull will come out first, and will usually use Will-o-Wisp to lower your attack before using Future Sight. Use Ghost type attacks like Lick and Dark type attacks like Bite and Sucker Punch to defeat Duskull.
- Haunter is the second Pokemon, and will use Shadow Claw, Hypnosis, and Confuse Ray, as well as Sucker Punch. Dark, Ghost, and Psychic attacks work best against it, so if you've evolved a Psyduck to Golduck yet, pull them out and blast Haunter with Psychic attacks.
- Mismagius is the last, and uses Magical Leaf, Psybeam, Shadowball, and Confuse Ray. These attacks with the exception of Magical Leaf are devastating for low-level Pokemon - you want to be level 35 or higher to avoid taking tons of damage, especially when hit by Shadowball.
- Ghost and Dark attacks work well, but since most of Fatina's Pokemon know moves that kill Ghost type Pokemon, use a Normal type that knows Bite, or a similar combination.
- After you win, you'll receive the Gym badge and TM65(Shadow Claw), as well as the ability to use Defog outside of battle. The gates to the right will open and you'll be able to use a teleporter to reach the beginning of the Gym.
- Head to the southeastern gate after you stop by the PC to heal, and you'll face off against your rival again. If your Pokemon aren't level 35 or higher, you might have a staunch fight on your hands.
BOSS FIGHT: Rival
- Your rival uses different Pokemon depending on what you picked as your starter:
- Turtwig: lvl 25 Staravia, lvl 23 Buizel, lvl 23 Roselia, lvl 27 Monferno
- Chimchar: lvl 25 Staravia, lvl 23 Roselia, lvl 23 Ponyta, lvl 27 Prinplup
- Piplup: lvl 25 Staravia, lvl 23 Buizel, lvl 23 Ponyta, lvl 27 Grotile
- The lowest level you can be at and win without a lot of luck being involved is 23, but if you've been following this walkthrough then this battle should be a breeze.
- Use Electric and Rock attacks to defeat the Staravia, Electric attacks against Buizel, Fire/Ground/Psychic attacks against Roselia, Water/Ground attacks against Ponyta, and everything else will pretty much fall into place. If you really want to be over-prepared, bring some Potions with you.
- After you defeat your rival, head to Route 209.
Route 209
- Pokemon Encountered:
- Bibarel
- Staravia
- Roselia
- Zubat
- Chansey
- Ralts
- Duskull
- Fishing/Surfing Pokemon Encountered:
- Psyduck - Surf
- Golduck - Surf
- Goldeen - Good Rod
- Magikarp - Good Rod
- Gyarados - Super Rod
- Seaking - Super Rod
- National Dex Pokemon Encountered:
- Vulpix - LeafGreen
- Kirlia - Radar
- Snubbull - Swarm
- You can now catch Duskull, a useful Ghost type Pokemon with a third evolution. Chansey has a 5% chance of being seen, so keep an eye out for it. There are several trainers on this route, most with rare Pokemon, so fight them so you can trade for them later on the GTS.
- Lost Tower is optional, but it's great for EXP - head there now and level if you want.
Lost Tower
- Pokemon Encountered:
- Zubat
- Gastly
- Duskull
- Fishing/Surfing Pokemon Encountered:
- None
- National Dex Pokemon Encountered:
- None
- Strength is not found here like it was in Diamond/Pearl, so don't bother trying to get to the top if you're expecting a large prize. From the third floor and up, the floors are covered in fog that cuts both you and your opponent's accuracy in half - teach Defog to a Pokemon to make it easier on yourself.
- There's not a lot of new Pokemon to encounter here, but it is a nice place for grinding if you have plenty of Potions. When you're through, head to Solaceon Town.
Solaceon Town
- There's a Day Care here - if you've never used a Day Care, it's a great place for leaving Pokemon to level and breed while you're busy doing other stuff. You don't get EVs from it, but you can leave two compatible Pokemon there and trade them on the GTS if you want. You can also get a Breeding App from the guy in the Day Care by talking to him that tracks the level of Pokemon in the Day Care and if they have an egg yet or not.
- There's a News Press next to the PC here that you can show a certain Pokemon to every day for a prize, which is detailed in the Side Quests section.
- Head to the edge of town, and go right, past the first hedges, and jump down at the second set of hedges. Jump down at the next set of hedges to reach a house with a lady and a boy inside - the lady will give you the Sticker Case, and the boy will give you a sticker for each Unown you catch.
- Stock up at the Pokemart before you continue.
Solaceon Pokemart
- Poke Ball: 200
- Potion: 300
- Super Potion: 700
- Antidote: 100
- Paralyze Heal: 200
- Awakening: 250
- Burn Heal: 250
- Ice Heal: 250
- Escape Rope: 550
- Repel: 350
- Dusk Ball: 1000
- Net Ball: 1000
- Nest Ball: 1000
- Air Mail: 50
- If you head to the right of town and to the very last set of hedges, then jump down three times until you are near a tree, you'll reach the Solaceon Ruins, where you can find the Defog TM.
Solaceon Ruins
- You can find Unown here, which you'll get rewarded with stickers for catching by the boy in the house where you obtained the Sticker Case. Also, you need at least one Unown recorded in your Pokedex to receive the National Dex, so be sure to stay until you find at least one.
- You can now find the Water, Thunder, and Fire Stones in the ruins, which you need to evolve Eevee. The Fire Stone is found by heading down the stairs on the left of the entrance and pressing A on the rock. The Water Stone is obtained by heading down the stairs in the upper right of the beginning of the ruins, then down the lower left set of stairs, and then down the next set of stairs in the lower left and pressing A on the rock.
- To obtain the Thunder Stone, follow the steps to find the Water Stone but head to the upper right stairs and go down, then head down the upper left stairs, and then down the lower right stairs and pressing A on the rock.
- To get TM06(Defog), from the beginning of the ruins head down the upper right stairs, then the lower left stairs, then the upper right stairs, then the upper left stairs twice, then the lower left stairs. You'll be in a room with the Defog TM, as well as Odd Incense, a Nugget, and the Mind Plate. When you're finished, head back to Solaceon Town, heal at the PC, then head north to Route 210.
Route 210 South
- Pokemon Encountered:
- Hoothoot
- Noctowl
- Staravia
- Scyther
- Roselia
- Geodude
- Ponyta
- Chansey
- Fishing/Surfing Pokemon Encountered:
- None
- National Dex Pokemon Encountered:
- Seedot - Ruby
- Nuzleaf - Ruby
- Pineco - Emerald
- Miltank - Radar
- Tauros - Radar
- Scyther is a pretty good Pokemon to catch early on here, if you can get one with the Technician ability - it makes its earlier moves very powerful.
- Use the Bike to get up the slopes and through the grass. When you reach the top, the route is blocked by a flock of Psyducks that won't move right now. Instead, head to the Cafe nearby and get some Moo Moo Milk for 500p, then head right and enter Route 215.
Route 215
- Pokemon Encountered:
- Staravia
- Abra
- Kadabra
- Marill
- Lickitung
- Scyther
- Fishing/Surfing Pokemon Encountered:
- None
- National Dex Pokemon Encountered:
- Drowzee - Swarm
- This route is slightly confusing - there's a lot of trainers here, but it's always raining, so Fire attacks are weakened. Not only that, but Thunder is 100% effective and Water attacks are far more powerful than they are in other places.
- To get to the end of this route, head up the steps and over the bridge, then go down. Head down and to the right, then head up the steps to the next bridge. Cross it, then go down - from there, it's more clear where to go. There are two strong trainers near the end, so fight them for good EXP since a Gym is coming up soon. When you're finished, head to Veilstone.
