Pokemon Platinum Battle Frontier

Making a return from Pokemon Emerald, the Battle Frontier appears in Pokemon Platinum for the Nintendo DS. The Battle Frontier is a place where players can go to engage in a variety of different Pokemon battle scenarios and upgrade their skills and try out new techniques with their Pokemon. Pokemon Platinum released on March 21, 2009.
Battle Frontier's Origin

Pokemon Platinum is the the first Pokemon game to have options similar to those available in the Battle Frontier.
The modes originated in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire with the Battle Tower. In the Battle Tower, players could play through a large number of consecutive battles to gain bonus points and experience for the trainer and their Pokemon.
This concept evolved in Pokemon Emerald with the inclusion of the first Battle Frontier. The Battle Frontier expanded on the options available in the Battle Tower by offering a total of seven areas and play modes for the player to choose from.IGN: Pokemon Emerald Battle Frontier
The Pokemon Platinum Battle Frontier is structured much the same way as it was in Emerald, however, the new Battle Frontier offers five battle areas as opposed to the seven in "Emerald".Serebii.net: Pokemon Platinum Battle Frontier

Pokemon Platinum Battle Frontier
1. Battle Arcade - The Battle Arcade takes the match-ups between the player and his opponents and adds a game of chance by allowing the player to spin a wheel before each battle. Depending on what the wheel lands on the player will either be at a disadvantage during the fight or will be assisted.
2. Battle Castle - Puts the player up against multiple groups of Pokemon without regenerating the health of the player's Pokemon before each match.
3. Battle Factory - In the Battle Factory, the player will fight battles using rented Pokemon that are given when entering the Factory. Once and opponent is beaten, the player can choose to trade out one of his own Pokemon for one of the defeated trainer's monsters.
4. Battle Hall - The player will go up against a line-up of trainers with only a very small roster of their own Pokemon to choose from.
5. Battle Tower - Works like the Battle Castle, only the player's Pokemon have their health regenerated in between each match.
