Pogs

Categories: Products | Kids & Toys | Toys
  • Pogs is a clasic street game that originated in Hawaii in the late 1920's or early 1930's and regained popularity from 1990 to 1995.

Pogs can also mean the double sided cardboard disk used to play this game. They were traditionally used as caps to glass milk bottles. This is why they are sometimes called milk caps.

During the popular years, hundreds of types of pogs were manufactured, with pictures from cartoons, movies, sports, and even famous people.

The slammer is a thicker plastic pog used to slam down on a stack of pogs.

  • How to play

    1. All players should agree whether or not they are playing for keeps.
    2. All players should donate an equal amount of pogs to the pile.
    3. Stack the pogs in a pile facing down. Some say you should stack them face up, but putting the pogs face down will protect the face from the slammer. Stacks that are too large will just tip over when slammed. Stacks that are too small will make a very short game. Experiment to see what works best for you. About 15 pogs is a good place to start.
    4. Begin by slamming your slammer down on the pile. There are a variety of ways to do this some accurate and some showy. Practice your accuracy, because missing the stack still counts as a turn. If you hit the stack, collect all the pogs you turned over and re-stack the remainder.
    5. The game is over when all the pogs in the stack has been flipped. Count the pogs to determine the winner.
