  • Poco is an American country and classic rock band formed in the late 1960s from musicians who'd played with bands such as Boenzee Cryque, The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield and The Poor. They recorded their debut album, Pickin' Up The Pieces, for Columbia Records in 1969. The group celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2008, making Poco one of the more enduring bands of their genre.allmusic: Poco Biography
  • The Name

    The newly formed band originally called themselves Pogo after a comic strip by Walter Kelly. However, a lawsuit prompted a quick change. Because they had begun to develop a following, they chose to change just one letter. The new name was Poco.Sweets Lyrics: Poco Biography
  • 1970s

    Musicians came and went from the band during the 1970s. With Rusty Young the only remaining original member, Legend, released in 1978, became their best-selling album, with the single, Crazy Love climbing to number 17 on the pop charts.   • 1980s

    During the 1980s, Poco continued to tour and to produce a number albums, such as Under The Gun and Blue and Gray which weren't very successful. Biography: Poco Biography After the poorly received Inamorata, recorded by Furay, Schmit and Grantham in 1984, the group dissolved until 1989 when the original four members reunited and produced two hits Nothin' To Hide and Call It Love off the album Legacy.Classicbands.com: Poco
  • Recent History

    Paul Cotton, Rusty Young, George Grantham regrouped in 2000 and set out on tour, with the addition of Jack Sundrud who had toured with Poco briefly during the mid 1980s.Sweets Lyrics: Poco Biography While on tour in 2004, Grantham suffered a stroke during a performance.
