  • About PlayStation Home

Sony's PlayStation Home is a graphic user interface much like the Xbox 360's Dashboard. Both allow players to create custom avatars, download demos, and interact with friends online using text or voice chat.

Home entered open beta phase on December 11, 2008, allowing gamers from all regions to download the new interface. It was promptly hacked via a number of security loopholes. A major loophole allows hackers to upload or delete any file from Home's server. Since the server is accessed by everybody, a hacker could potentially unleash a virus on unsuspecting gamers.Telegraph.co.uk: PlayStation Home hacked (December 19, 2008)

Hackers are also able to swap out text, music and movies with files of their own choosing. These changes seem to only affect what the local user sees and cannot be used to alter the experience of others.Engadget: PlayStation Home already hacked? (December 14, 2008)
