Playground Slides

    • 1914: First playground equipment was created
    • Most popular slides are plastic
    • Available in all colors and sizes
    • Many swing sets now come equipped with slides
    • Also known as a slippery dip, sliding pond or sliding pon
  • Playground slides are made for children to play outside as a part of play set or a free-standing slide, allowing them to climb to the top then slide on their bottoms to the ground. They are made of either plastic or metal and can be either smooth or rippled. Slides are made in all different sizes and shapes. Smaller slides are closer to the ground allowing smaller children to play comfortably while older children enjoy larger slides that may be higher from the ground and turn or curve. When using a metal slide, caution should be taken because they can become extremely hot in the sun, causing burns to the child's body.
