  • Placido Domingo is an operatic tenor and conductor. Aside from his operatic acting ability, his voice is known for its clarity, strength, range and versatility. Along with Jose Carreras and the late Luciano Pavarotti, Domingo was a member of the trio The Three Tenors and currently serves as the creative director for the Los Angeles Opera.
  • Career

    Placido Domingo made his American debut at the Dallas City Opera in 1961. He went on to the Met in 1968. His residency at the Met catapulted his career as a singer and he soon embarked on a world tour, gracing the stages of opera houses all over the world. In 1990, he joined with operatic legends Luciano Pavarotti and Jose Carreras to form the group The Three Tenors. The group toured from 1990 until 2004. They raised awareness of opera and had a number one hit with their rendition of "Nessun Dorma".

    Domingo is also an accomplish conductor. He has conducted and directed operas at the New York City Opera and the Los Angeles Opera.
