Pittsburgh Vacation

  • Pittsburgh is a city in Pennsylvania, the second largest to be exact. There is a lot of history in the city, therefore a lot of historically based attractions are spread throughout. Besides the historic wealth that maintains the city's heritage, there is also an abundance of parks, museums, restaurants and shopping areas.
  • Attractions

    The Cathedral of Learning, build it 1937, is said to be the tallest scholastic building in the United States, the second in the world. It's situated at the University of Pittsburgh and is open to the public for show, as long as classes are not scheduled. Right across from the Cathedral is the Schenley Plaza and Park. It's a perfect location for a family or romantic picnic, as well as an oasis for joggers, sunbathers and anyone looking for some exercise without dealing with the hassle of city traffic. The Plaza has free wireless internet available, as well free movie nights.
  • City Parks

    There are four sizable city parks with in Pittsburgh: Schenley, Highland, Frick, and Riverview. Each park offers different activities for the public. Schenley Park has a free sports clinic, open for children ages 6 to 18. Riverview Park hosts "Citiparks cinema in the parks" during the summer: June 10 to August 25. Most movies are family-friendly and all begin at dusk. The Frick Park puts on a children's summer day camp at their Environment Center. There are programs for all age groups. Frick Park is the largest and has playgrounds, hiking trails and educational centers for public use. Each park has a Farmer's Market from May until November and many also host the "Citiparks cinema in the parks."
