Music website Pitchfork Media started holding its own annual summer music festival in Chicago's Union Park, in 2006.
The 2009 edition of the concert series will run from July 17 to 19. This year's performers include the recently reunited Jesus Lizard, who are playing their first show in 11 years, The Flaming Lips, Built to Spill, Grizzly Bear, The National, The Walkmen and Vivian Girls.Pitchfork: The 2009 Pitchfork Music Festival Starting Lineup! "Don't Look Back"
In collaboration with the All Tomorrow's Parties music festival, the Pitchfork Festival in 2007 and 2008 featured a "Don't Look Back" stage, on which revered bands performed a popular album from their catalog in its entirety.In 2007, Sonic Youth performed Daydream Nation, Slint reunited to play their classic Spiderland record and rapper GZA performed Liquid Swords. In 2008, each of the three headliners will performed an entire album from their catalog: Public Enemy performed It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, Sebadoh performed Bubble and Scrape and Mission of Burma performed Vs..
