Pink Floyd is a British Psychedelic Rock band that rose to fame in the late 60s and continued their success through a string of classic albums. The group's mix of music and psychedelic lighting made them a favorite in London's underground music scene.
Pink Floyd started out in the London club scene in the late 60s and received a moderate amount of success for their live improvisations and psychedelic music. After lead singer Syd Barrett suffered a mental breakdown, Bass player Roger Waters began to take a more active role in the band, as well as new guitarist David Gilmour. After the release of immensely popular Dark Side of the Moon album, 1973 in Pink Floyd became one of the biggest bands in the world.
Live 8
In a rare appearance Pink Floyd played together for the first time in 24 years at the London Live 8 concert in 2005. It was the largest audience the group has ever played to. In 2006 founding member Syd Barrett passed away after years of living in seclusion.
