Phylicia Rashad is an American film, television, and stage actress best known for her role as Clair Huxtable on the popular NBC sitcom The Cosby Show. She also appeared in the show's two spin-offs: A Different World and Cosby. Rashad first became notable through a string of Broadway credits including Dreamgirls and the 1982 production of The Wiz. In 2008 Rashad played Lena Younger in the ABC television adaption of A Raisin in the Sun, a role which earned her a best actress Tony in 2004. She is also appearing in the all African American adaptation of Tennessee Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
