  • A Brief History

The NBA allowed two cities to attain a franchise in 1968, Milwaukee and Phoenix. In eight years the team made the NBA Finals and played the Boston Celtics who defeated the eight-year old ball-club 4-2, in a-best-of-seven series. It was not until the Suns acquired Charles Barkley in 1992 did they make it back to the NBA Finals. Although hard-fought, the Barkley lead Suns were defeated by the Chicago Bulls in the seven-game series 4-2, which was the Bulls third consecutive championship. Although the team has not made it back to the Finals since, they do remain one of the leagues most successful franchises.
