The latest Philippine Coup attempt occurred on November 29, when a group of military officers who were on trial for a previous coup attempt in 2003, took over the Peninsula Hotel in Manila, in an attempt to overthrow the government of president Gloria Arroyo. The coup ended without injury when the rebels surrendered.
