  • The Philadelphia Eagles are a professional football team that plays in the East division of the NFC in the National Football League. Originally founded in 1933, the franchise won three NFL Championships prior to the 1967 NFL-AFL merger. The modern team has appeared in the Super Bowl twice, in 1980 and 2004, but lost each time.

  • Early History

    The team entered the league as the Philadelphia Eagles in 1933. They failed to reach the playoffs their first several seasons in the league. In 1943, the Eagles merged with the Pittsburgh Steelers, forming the "Steagles". They played just one season together during World War II, when there were less players available to each team. In 1944, the two teams separated, each going back to their original name. The Eagles made their first post season appearance in 1947, losing the NFL Championship to the Chicago Cardinals. They returned to the playoffs in 1948, winning the championship two seasons in a row. Their final pre-merger championship came in 1960 when they defeated the Green Bay Packers in the final game 17-13.

  • Stadium Break-in
